$2.3 Million Federal Stimulus For Beauty School Tuition

$2.3 Million In Federal Stimulus Money For Tampa Bay Beauty School Tuition - St. Petersburg Times
"More than $2.3 million in federal economic stimulus grants have gone to eight Tampa Bay area cosmetology and massage schools to pay tuition for the hairdressers, masseuses and nail technicians of tomorrow."

It infuriates me when I see a headline like this from a major newspaper. When will they ever learn that there is no such thing as Federal Money, it is Tax Payer Money, yours and mine. It comes from your paycheck, social security check, pension distribution, etc. It comes from taxes on the money that you currently work for, have worked for in the past, money you've saved for a rainy day, and money you've put aside for retirement.
It's time for out Senators and Representatives to learn the same simple fact, it's not your money it's Tax Payer Money.

Did I 'ear Someone Say Ear Marks

Troop Funds Diverted To Pet Projects: "Senators diverted $2.6 billion in funds in a defense spending bill to pet projects largely at the expense of accounts that pay for fuel, ammunition and training for U.S. troops, including those fighting wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, according to an analysis."

These guys have no conscience.
On a brighter note, I understand that there are rumblings of a third party being formed by the Tea Party participants. I certainly hope so, the country can't take much more of this nonsense. I'm sure if they get in power it will only take 10-20 years for them to be as corrupt as our current crop of "leaders", but that will give us some hope of relief from these clowns.

Health Bills Hit Hard

Overweight? Smoker? :
"Get in shape or pay a price.
That's a message more Americans could hear if the health care reform bills passed by the Senate Finance and Health committees become law."

Unlike Marie Antoinette, they won't even Let Us Eat Cake

Protesters and Obama in San Francisco

The City Square: A Tea Party greets Obama in San Francisco
"Even in San Francisco, Pres. Obama cannot escape protesters. He held a fundraiser at the St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco tonight (Thursday) and a crowd turned out across the street on Union Square to let him know what they thought:"

In the spirit of fairness to the current President, Barak Obama, I've inserted a picture from prior San Francisco Presidential protests, you know the civil ones.

This is Part II of  "How sharper than a serpent's tooth it is to have a thankless Progressive on your side."
Don't let the lead-in fool you, according to the article "The crowd was not just Tea Partiers. There were also single-payer enthusiasts, 9-11 truthers, and US-out-of-Aghanistan'ers as well." In other words your typical mix of San Franciscans.
I think that by the end of the year, the leftist fringe will rip the Democratic party to shreds. Now all we have to do is get a coalition of moderate Democrats, Republicans and Independents together to form a third party. Then maybe America will stand a chance of surviving.

Obama to Visit New Orleans

Obama to Visit New Orleans to Survey Katrina Recovery - ABC News:
But before the president even steps foot on the ground in Louisiana, critics in the region have taken aim at the administration on several fronts: "'I fear Obama is mismanaging the political theater of Katrina,' Lawrence Powell of Tulane University told ABC News. 'Granted, he and his administration deserve plaudits for unblocking recovery funds and cutting needless red tape, but the people down here can't be reassured often enough that the president 'gets' the problem -- the sluggish recovery, the vanishing coastline, the social 'Katrinas' that are making our mean streets even meaner and more dangerous.'"

To paraphrase The Bard - "How sharper than a serpent's tooth it is to have a thankless Progressive on your side."
In case you haven't guessed by now Professor Powell is an outspoken Leftist/Progressive, and quite child like in his expectations of the newly elected President. In case you haven't recognized it, the above picture is an aerial view of Nagin's Navy.

Dilbert Strikes Back

This is one of the first times I've seen Scott Adams even approach anything political. Although it is supposed to be bi-partisan, the Senator sure looks like Tom Daschle to me.

Waterboarding - The Market Ticker

Waterboard JP Morgan and The Mortgage Bankers Assn - The Market Ticker: "Prior to the depression of the 1920s, there was a mortgage loan product used by many of the American people, known as the interest only loan. Why did this long disappear? And why has it suddenly reappeared? Let’s take a moment to answer each question, and hopefully provide some food for thought.

During the 1920s and into the early 30s, many of the citizenry of this country chose to live above their means. They chose the interest only loan because it allowed them to purchase a larger home for less money. What happened when the stock market crashed and jobs were scarce, and there was no income? Many of these people were left without homes; as they had chosen to simply pay the interest on their mortgage there was no equity built into their homeownership. When no equity builds, and the income ceases, the bank forecloses and residents or forced from their homes."

Denninger At His Best, the article is a must read. I just wish Karl was a little more polished, he has so much valuable insight but he comes off as a nut.

House Dems Control Richest Regions

"Democratic members of the House of Representatives now represent most of the nation's wealthiest people, a sharp turnaround from the long-standing dominance that Republicans have held over affluent districts."

What's that old depression song refrain?

The Rich Get Richer and
The Poor Get Poorer
In the mean time
In between time
Ain't We Got Fun

Laughing yet?

I ran across this cartoon while doing some research about blogging. It really is apropos to what's going on these days. Even Bloggers From The Left are complaining about the White House and their comments about them.

Pandemonium After Warning From Insurers

Dems scramble after warning from health insurers:
"WASHINGTON (AP) - Insurance companies aren't playing nice any more. Their dire message that health care legislation will drive up premiums for people who already have coverage comes as a warning shot at a crucial point in the debate, and threatens President Barack Obama's top domestic priority."
This whole debate over Health Care Reform, or whatever it's being called today, has me totally confused. I'll try to put my thoughts down in a bullet list so that I can attempt to make some sense of it all.

  • There are five bills
  • No one in congress can read them because they written in arcane legalese
  • Most of Congress are lawyers and can read
  • Congress' job is to enact laws by creating and passing bills
  • If congress didn't write the bills that they cant read, who did?

I'm So Confused

Obama Fails To Win Nobel Prize In Economics

Michael Moore, Timothy Geithner also passed over:
"The president has worked tirelessly since even before his inauguration to wrest control of the U.S. economy from failed free markets, and the evil CEOs who profit from them, and to turn it over to wise, fair and benevolent bureaucrats."

At first I thought this article came from that great satirical web site The Onion, then I realized it was from the Wall Street Journal's Market Watch. Great tongue in cheek.
